What you could earn
You set the rate. Here's the maths.
Your earnings are your rate × your hours, minus our commission (15–25%, which drops the more you teach) — no listing fees, no monthly fees. These are worked examples, not promises: what you actually earn depends on your rate, your hours, and how consistently you show up.

Show up, on time
Honour every booking and the free meet-and-greet. If you must reschedule, give as much notice as you can — reliability is what earns repeat learners.
Teach to the brief
Every booking comes with the learner's goal and any carry-forward notes. Plan to it, and leave a short session note so progress is visible.
Keep it on-platform
Chat, lessons and payment all stay on TutorChum. It keeps you and the learner protected — and contact details shared off-platform are stripped automatically.
Stay verified & safe
Be the verified person on your profile, keep claims honest, and follow our child-protection rules with every young learner.
List honestly
Clear titles, real expertise, a quality cover image. A human reviews every listing before it goes live — accurate listings get approved faster.

What does TutorChum take?
One commission, all-in — no listing fees, no monthly fees, no hidden costs — and it falls the more you teach: 25% (new chum), 20% (established chum), 15% (veteran chum). So you keep 75–85% at the rate you set, and students you bring yourself are always commission-free. Applying is free.
How fast do I get paid?
Weekly. Every Friday, your balance from the previous Friday to Thursday lands in your nominated Nigerian bank account via BudPay.
Do I need a degree?
No. We verify what you claim — if you say you have a degree we check it, and if you don't claim one, no problem. We care that you can teach the subject well. Apply and show us.
Is the meet-and-greet paid?
No — it's free for the student and unpaid for you. Treat it as your sales call: 15 minutes to win a student who then books paid lessons at your full rate.
Can I teach part-time?
Most chums do. Block the hours you're unavailable and the platform never books into them. Leave anytime — there's no lock-in.
